Let Us Dread Not (DucKs)
This is my submission to the Overtime OST Composing Jam!
It has a runtime of 51 minutes and 25 seconds, and it was made in FL Studio.
I'll share a little fun fact here: I was abroad in Spain for this whole month! That means that I was using FL Studio on a laptop for the first time, and it took me quite a bit to get used to it XD
I really like the picture themes! They inspired me to write music for multiple locations in the game, which helped with the length of the soundtrack a lot!!
It took me about a week to come up with a story that featured the two ducks and the horror backgrounds :D
For the story, I thought up that there are two ducks, and they call themselves brothers. They've been calling themselves brothers for so long that they don't even know if they're actual brothers or not :D
They live in very dangerous places ((since they're cheap)). One day the older, smaller duck, Shelduck, went out to scout for a new place to live, during which he unfortunately got stuck in a very dangerous place and was taken hostage!
After learning of this news, the younger, yet taller, brother, Merganser, got very remorseful. Determined to save his brother, he went out to find him and defeat his captor!! :D
After this, I had ordered the rest of the story into three chapters, each featuring a different place and enemy. Merganser has two options: either he defeats the enemy, or he makes them realize their wrongdoing and helps them move on.
Chapter One — The Haunted Manor:
Merganser goes out of the brotherly home to look for Shelduck, his older brother!
Going through the fields of ghosts and ghoulies, Merganser has to overcome his largest fears and their perils.
After getting through these fields and up a spooky mountain, Merganser gets to the haunted mansion!!
Inside this haunted mansion live more ghosts under the eye of The Elder Ghost :O
The Elder Ghost guards the exit at the other side of the mansion, and Merganser needs to get through!
Chapter Two — A Cityful of Zombies:
After leaving the haunted mansion, Merganser continues his rescue journey.
Going down the mountain on which the mansion stands, we get to the gates of a rundown city.
The city is enshrouded by green and purple fog and the sounds of a hundred dozen zombies!
This zombie epidemic was caused by the former evil-scientist now zombie-overlord Zombeckis!!
CHapter THree — Shelduck's Captor (The Lightkeeper – he HATES ducks):
After getting through Zombeckis and his "Experiment 84982," Merganser has to leave the city through the only safe passage — the sewers!
The sewer system leads Merganser right to the place where Shelduck's captor resides — the lighthouse. The clearing around the lighthouse is filled with springed duckpresses.
This is because the lightkeeper HATES ducks with every fiber of his being! In fact, this detestation has driven him mad D:
It is now Merganser's task to either help the lightkeeper, or perchance not, and save his brother once and for all!!
